What is Leaning Tripod?
My photoblog began in early 2005. I am very passionate about photography, but more about 'the eye' of it than the technical side. I love to share my view of the world, and this is the small space where I choose to do just that.

I love the composition here. My attempts at photographing the moon have always been failures :-)
Thanks suyog. Although I wouldn't consider this a great success, and I'll tell you why. This was my first attempt, and there was graininess, so I brought down the light after the fact. I had the shaded part in there, but that grain bothered me too much. I will probably give 'shooting the moon' another try, but maybe when it's full.
This is Sarah's sister Rachel. I love looking at your pictures, you've inspired me to start a photoblog.
Did you use a tripod to take your moon picture?
Okay, I feel like I stepped on suyog's comment. And by the way, if anyone's wondering it was my comment that I deleted, so I don't want you to think I'll be deleting comments (unless I have good reason). Anyway, I should have just said 'thanks' to suyog and let it go at that. I very much appreciate the positive feedback, so keep it coming! =)
Hi Rachel! I think I could some great advertising from Sarah... seems I've had quite a few visits from her referral. To answer your question, I definitely used my tripod (the one that inspired the naming of this photoblog) and did some 2", 4" and 8" exposures. This was probably a shorter exposure. As I had never taken moon photos before, I didn't realize how fast it moves! Goes to show that I'm not a scientist by any means! So even in four or eight seconds of my shutter being open, the moon would already have moved. Amazing. This one was the closest I could get to what the naked eye was seeing last night.
Hi...nice moon...You do it right...in my tries the moon alwways blow-up and is very overexposed....
Nice shot.
growing up, we called this God's thumb nail. brings back memories for me.
